Founded in 1897 the Royal Automobile Club is one of Britain's oldest and most influential motoring organisations. The Club's early years were focussed on campaigning for the rights of the private motorist, introduction of the driving licence and staging the world's first ever motor race, Grand Prix and the famous London to Brighton to London run, along with governing motor sport in Britain. |

RAC Motoring Services provides breakdown assistance to over 7 million motorists, and also offers insurance. It is owned by The Carlyle Group and no longer has formal links with the RAC Foundation or the Royal Automobile Club. |

The European Commission recently launched its new road safety website. The website provides road users and stakeholders with information on everything from good behaviour and education to infrastructures and vehicle safety. |

The Lighter Later campaign is calling for a three-year trial of a new timekeeping model where Britain’s clocks are set to GMT+1 in winter and GMT+2 in summer. The campaign is being coordinated by 10:10, an ambitious project to unite every sector of British society behind one simple idea: that the UK can achieve a 10% cut in the country’s carbon emissions in 2010. |

The RAC Foundation supports the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 – 2020. The UN Road Safety Collaboration has developed a Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 which provides an overall framework for activities that may take place in the context of the Decade. |

The Healthy Air Campaign seeks to increase public awareness and understanding of the health impacts of air pollution and help communities mitigate those impacts and adapt to reduce them. The campaign is supported by a growing coalition of NGOs including Asthma UK, the Campaign for Better Transport, Clean Air in London, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, ClientEarth, Environmental Protection UK, Friends of the Earth, Living Streets and SusTrans. |

Cranfield University runs a postgraduate programme on Driver Behaviour (MSc, PGDip & PGCert). The programme is aimed at professionals working in the traffic and transportation area (driver trainers, fleet managers, accident investigators, police, etc.) as well as those who might want to move into the field. The overarching aim of the programme is to enhance these people's skills and knowledge of the human factors involved in driving. |
