Cost of Iran War to UK drivers

The Iran War started on Saturday 28 February 2026, pushing up oil prices and hence pump prices. The charts below estimate how much extra these rises have cost UK drivers compared with what they would have spent on petrol and diesel had pump prices remained at the same level as they were on Friday 27 February. Some of the additional paid at the pumps will be VAT. A proportion of this is likely to be reclaimed later by VAT-registered businesses.
