Cars need fuel… and roads30 May 2008

The average wait for a road to be resurfaced is now 65 years*******.

 

In the current climate the motorist is paying more for a declining level of service, particularly when compared to the standards of service expected from other utilities and private businesses.

* On 23.04.08 a family travelling 833 miles per month (10,000 miles per year), in a car that does 40mpg, spent £102.24 on unleaded petrol and £111.24 on diesel. A month on these costs had risen to £105.75 for unleaded petrol (a 3.4% rise) and £116.35 for diesel (4.4% rise). Average fuel prices sourced from www.businesscar.co.uk and the www.thisismoney.co.uk calculator was used for assessing monthly costs.
