Planned duty hike fuels driver concern
Commenting on the fuel duty rise planned for 1st April, Professor Stephen Glaister, director of the RAC Foundation, said:
“It seems this move is adding insult to injury. Motorists are being squeezed at every turn and are heading even further down the financial road to ruin. The majority of people don’t drive because they want to but because they have no alternative way of going about their daily business. Ministers know they are tapping a captive market and are prepared to take advantage of drivers who yet again will have to pick up the tab for politicians financial mistakes.”
