Small rise in 'profit' to £44.6 million
Councils in Scotland made a combined surplus of £44.6 million from their parking activities in 2017-18.
This was a 5% increase on the £42.6 million ‘profit’ recorded in the previous financial year 2016-17.
City of Edinburgh had the largest surplus, £23.8 million, up 9% on a year earlier.
Glasgow came next with £12.5 million, down 5%, followed by Aberdeen at £3.3 million, up 3%.
The numbers are revealed in analysis of official data carried out for the RAC Foundation by transport consultant David Leibling.
